Elder Little Reo's Mission

Today my husband, Reo received this message from someone he baptized 30 years ago! Awesome letter! We shared with our son today and thought I would share here on Elder Grover's blog.

Elder Grover,
Thirty years ago today you baptized me and confirmed me a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I think my mother still has a picture of you and me in our baptismal whites standing in the hallway of the Stockton stake center. All of the good things in my life have resulted from you and Elder Barber knocking on our door and my decision to be baptized all those years ago when I was only twelve years old. A "thank you" is just not adequate for expressing the love and gratitude that I feel and for what your missionary service has meant to me and my family. Heavenly Father truly is mindful of all of us. I hope that this message finds you and your family well. It warms my heart to know that there is another Elder Grover out in the mission field today.

Since this blog is about Elder Grover, I thought I would tell you a little about him, especially for those who may only know him that well. Elder Grover is a wonderful son who has always tried to be a good boy. He was a wonderful, happy baby. As a toddler, he quietly went about destroying everything in his reach. We would awaken to eggs, milk, juice on the kitchen floor; flour, cereal and all the contents of the trash can dumped on the floor. He was quite a handful. We learned quickly to tie the refrigerator shut and the cabinets, as well as we could. As a little boy, he was quite silly and couldn't sit still in school or church. In primary, he would hang upside down from his chair. He would take his tie off, unbutton his white shirt and come undressed. I learned quickly to dress him in little white polo shirts so that he would stay dressed. His primary teachers dreaded to see him come!!! When he was this age, he always said, "When I grow up, I wanna be Batman, a Dad and a Missionary!" It was also around this age when he visited Nauvoo with his grandparents and came home being touched by the spirit felt in that sacred place and with a seed planted...he had started growing his own little testimony. He started playing football at about age 9 and played all the way through high school. He was really good at it, but didn't really care that much about it, although his dad desperately wanted him to. As a teenager, he mellowed out, although he kept some of the silliness. He has kept himself clean and un-spotted from the world. I am very proud of him and proud to be his Mother. I have no doubt that he will be a wonderful missionary and will make his dad and I very proud!
