Elder Grover made Zone Leader

Email from 11/21/11

HEY EVERYONE!

So, We have transfers in... First off... Langford (my comp) is training... so that means that im gone... lol, and I am going to Antelope to be with Elder Wright as a ZL... Also, you may find this interesting to know... There are 2 (possibly 3) people from the mission who are from Mississippi. and I am serving with the other one... lol, Elder Wright is from Hernando, MS and has been out 13 months... so lol... Its pretty cool... I will be covering 2 wards, Citrus Heights 4th and Antelope Singles... CRAZY! so yeah thats whats up... lol, Also Wright talked to president after he got the info and told him how crazy it was that 2 Mississippians are gonna be serving together and president was like "What? I didn't even catch that!" lol so its meant to be... lol cool... So I will be leaving tomorrow to get there (about a 30 minute drive) around 2 or 3... It will be fun! I'm pretty excited... Oh, and he has an accent! lol, i don't but he does lol... the members minds are going to BLOW! lol

hmm... Yeah he is a Ms State fan... but He doesn't like Ole miss! lol, and he's pretty cool with USM... soo yeah... send some USM stuff... lol that would be cool... finally someone who says Mississippi right! lol

Anyway, We had Anna's baptism... It went SWEET! Her boyfriend Donavan baptized her and his father confirmed her... She is just GOLDEN! lol, half the people there were her family and the family of her boyfriend (soon i expect to be fiance...lol). It's really cool cuz he wasn't even pushing the church on her, she was the one who sought it out... so just LEGIT...lol

And Sunday was good, I got to say goodbye to some of the members. It was kinda sad... I really like this area, great success, great members, great everything! lol, Also I'm at 290 now... so thats pretty cool... 35 lbs... pretty cool i'd say...
Yeah, sometimes you need to look really hard at the bowflex to start losing it... sitting on it would help i think... lol... yeah, i would recommend getting rid of sodas entirely... save money and your stomach... lol but anyway... and fast food is evil! lol, but chick-fil-a is probably one of the more healthy fast foods... better than mcdonalds and wards... lol but anyway...
ummm... Sorry I've got to get going... plus my clock has 1 minute on it...

ANYWAY LOVE YALL BYE!!!

May 16, 2011
Hey Family,
So, today I had Sonic today for the first time in 11 months! I had a Sonic burger and a Sonic blast! It was good....
So, I am really interested in losing some weight, so I bought a jump rope....so, don't be surprised if I get off the plane & you can't recognize me. lol My plans are to start running/roping.
The meeting with Elder Christofferson and the other general authorities, like I said was great!!!! Some of the things they focused on was being obedient, getting answers through prayer & fasting (action), examples of leaders (like Pres & Sis Pendleton) & living so that you can be guiltless. It was a great meeting. Then I got to talk to a lot of missionaries I've served around. It was fun! I got to see Curfew, Hensley, Murdock, McCullough, Klieman,Woodward Sommner and tons others. It was great! I got a few pics with some of the missionaries. Not with any of the general authorities though, but it's ok. I'm having my last interview with President Pendleton this Thursday, so I'll make sure I get one of him. Maybe with Sister Pendleton too.

So, are things better with Mitch's dad & everyone? I hope so...I'll make sure to pray for them. So, one thing me and Elder Gleed are doing is...we both are giving up one habit that we don't like...Mine is cracking my knuckles/back/neck. And his is saying 'Your moma'...so, anyway, I figured if y'all would like to try that out...doesn't have to be anything real big... But that is my first one. I plan on a few more like not eating too much, or whatever. So, that can help with other things, whether it's health, or spiritual things or saves time to do good things.

So, I will close by saying I love y'all and I will write next week. Thanks for everything.

Love,
Elder Grover

Weekly Email

Today Elder Grover only had a couple of minutes to email us. I guess that means he is working extra hard! Here is the email for today! It made me laugh!

This week has been kinda slow... we have 3 investigators and they are not progressing at this moment... but things will be improving... umm, also we were just informed that we will be getting a new ward mission leader... I feel that will improve the ward's efforts greatly...
also... We have some really cool news... on May 14th we are going to have a whole mission conference (every missionary in the mission will go all at once) and Elder Christofferson will be there... It will be awesome! lol, also they said that he will give us time to ask him questions... and President Pendleton said that if we ask when the second coming is he'll (president) will come down and put us in a chokehold and let us find out sooner than later...lol, so if you have any questions you think would be good that wouldn't get me killed....lol

anyway, we are leaving in like 2 minutes sooo... I'll write a letter and talk more or whatever... ANyway Love yall ANd BYYE

Hola, Familia!

March 21, 2011
Hola, Familia! So, we are trying to learn Spanish and so far I know how to say "Me gustaria darle este folleto" lol so yeah...It's a work in progress. Anyway, this week was pretty good. The only lesson that wasn't a member lesson was Phillip. He is still a member, just a new one. But yeah, we are trying to find new ones and build up the ones we have. ..We have lessons set with 2 of the 3 investigators. Also, we have an open house on the 15th of April and are preparing to have people invite people & such. We did the opening of a youth fireside and showed them a clip from lds.org called "Inviting Others to come Unto Christ" It's a pretty awesome video and y'all should definitely watch it and invite people to come to church. That's a challenge! Right now I am being mauled by 2 dogs! Buck won't let me write you, he keeps jumping on me and trying to eat my pen!!!
So, one good thing about being DL is going on exchanges with the ZL's. I always enjoy those exchanges. Oakey and Cunningham are both awesome missionaries....We are trying to find ways to "flood our areas"..So yeah! Ok, so I'll tell you a bout Elder Gleed, my companion. He is from Lehi, Utah in between Salt Lake & Provo. He's been out 6 months and was in Redding all of it....til now. He's a real nice guy..kind of a kid. He likes legos and video games and food. A lot of missionaries don't eat breakfast. I never understood that. I mean, if there's ever a more healthier time to pig out...It's in the morning! So, how's everything back home? I can't believe Barney married Brittni....lol that is what we called him back in scout camp. That's good though, Barney is a good guy. ...How is the Ward doing? Anyone move in since I left? That's going to be weird when I get home and there will be all these new faces. It'll be like transfers...Ok, so I am actually just about to email you, so you should get this like Wed or Thurs. Anyway, I'll talk to you in like 10 minutes. Bye, Love y'all & see ya later.
Elder Reo Grover

Letter From The Mission President

Dear Brother & Sister Grover,

We are pleased to inform you that your son, Elder Grover, has recently been made a District Leader. The District Leader is the key to the mission, and it has been said, "This is where all the work is done."
Following is a list of his responsibilities:
1. Set an example for all missionaries in his district through his study of the scriptures and "Preach My Gospel", obedience, hard work, proselyting skills, and all other aspects of missionary work.
2. Carry a full proselyting load in his assigned area and strive to baptize regularly.
3. Supervise, teach, and inspire all missionaries during district meetings and companion exchanges.
4. Interview baptismal candidates.
5. Demonstrate effective planning
6. Work with local priesthood leaders and members.
7. Submit reports accurately and promptly.

We love and appreciate your son and his devoted service to the Lord. Please continue your prayers in his behalf and for all missionaries.

Sincerely,
Mark J. Pendleton
Mission President

Elder Grover Made New District Leader!

So, Monday while we were emailing Elder Grover, he gets the news about transfers. He is staying in Gridley. His companion, Elder Woodward is leaving for Redding 3rd. He is getting a new companion named Elder Gleed, whom Reo says looks like Kirby Heyborne from The RM. Also.... he was made District Leader! We are so excited for him and so proud of him. We knew he would be an awesome missionary and it's wonderful to see that his mission president thinks so too, and has so much faith in him.
Thanks for reading and I'll post some letters and such soon!
